therapy for individuals

Get relief from the constant Struggle of overwhelm.

Working with me helps you reconnect with what’s most important so that you can find direction, feel more confident in your decisions, and create a meaningful, fulfilling life.

You’re seeking help because you’re smart, motivated, yet you feel insecure or ambivalent in your relationships.

You feel guilty or ashamed, stuck in the same thought spiral day-in and day-out. You’re tired of feeling judged, most of all by yourself. I work with women and men who know there’s something off in their lives and don’t know in which direction to head.

Get to the root of your concerns and deepen your understanding of yourself.

You haven’t quite figured out the work and relationship balance. You’ve had losses in your life and are carrying some unresolved grief. You’re still wrestling with the remnants of a dysfunctional family and the ways it now impacts your life.

You have thought about (or have tried) separating from your family to move past your difficult childhood and build a better life for yourself.

Therapy is different than talking to family or friends because I don’t have a stake in the decisions you make, only that those decisions come from your gut and serve you well in both the short-term and long-term.

You’ll get to create a life based on what you want and need, not based on anyone else’s narrative or expectations. I’ll help you figure out what’s most important and meaningful to guide you now and into the future.

what Concerns Can Therapy Address?

While chronic stress typically manifests as physical symptoms, anxiety can show up in your head as well as in your body. Here are some of the most common symptoms of chronic anxiety, panic, and stress:

  • Anxiety & Chronic Stress

  • Trauma

  • Parent Coaching

  • Perfectionism

  • Procrastination

  • Self-Worth & Imposter Syndrome

  • People Pleasing

  • ADHD Coaching

  • Loneliness & Burnout

  • Toxic Relationships

How therapy helps

Therapy helps you get to the root of your current concerns by diving under your symptoms and exploring your life experiences and thought patterns from a new perspective.

Getting to know yourself in a different way means you can create new meaning from your past experiences, grow from what you learn, and make the kind of changes that positively impact your life.

This deeper understanding allows you to construct the kind of life you deeply want to live without being paralyzed or derailed by fear or worries about other people judging you.

I’ll help you figure out what an ideal future looks like by getting in touch with what really matters to you.

It may feel far off now, but it’s possible to wake up and not feel an overwhelming sense of dread, or feel your heart racing even when sitting still. Life can be fun and fulfilling when overwhelming feelings don’t get in the way of doing what you want to do.

Concerns I treat include:

Anxiety & Perfectionism

You’re overwhelmed, struggle to fall asleep, trouble concentrating, or you’re constantly worried about what might happen in the future. Nothing ever feels good enough and you’re super hard on yourself when things don’t turn out the way you’d hoped.

People-Pleasing & Boundaries

You worry what others think of you and often avoid social situations because you don’t want your brain to replay anything embarrassing or upsetting afterwards . You self-sacrifice to keep the peace and have difficulty assertively speaking up for yourself.

Trauma & Overwhelm

Do old, upsetting experiences still bother you? EMDR therapy is a powerful approach to heal past traumas by rewiring your brain using its natural healing process. Get relief from you most intense symptoms: check out my EMDR page to learn more.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes! I offer a free 15-minute consultation to ensure I’m the best fit for your needs. It will also give you an opportunity to ask me any questions you may have.

  • The first session is a chance for you to fill me in on your lived experience, and what your hopes and goals are for therapy. I often recommend jotting down a few notes beforehand if you’re unsure of what you’d like to address.

We’ll collaboratively decide what to work on and I’ll give you some helpful tools to practice between sessions.

  • I recommend starting with weekly appointments in order to make consistent progress towards your goals. If we go too long between appointments, you’ll constantly feel like playing catch up and there won’t always be enough time to figure everything out.

Weekly is also recommended for EMDR Therapy because once we light up your memory networks, we don’t want to lose connections by going too long between processing sessions.

  • The amount of time in therapy really depends on what you’re going through and is different for everyone. If you’re concerned about it being an endless process, I want you to know that I don’t keep people longer than they need it.

I’m very collaborative, so we’ll talk regularly about your progress and make mutual decisions about whether we can taper down to every other week and then to occasional check-ins.

  • Therapy is an investment and I totally understand there may be times when it doesn’t seem feasible. I hold a limited number of sliding scale spots. If you have a Health Savings Account or Flex Savings Account through your insurance, I accept that as payment. I can also provide an invoice to submit to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement.

  • While I’m not an in-network provider, I can provide a receipt for out-of-network reimbursement. Please see my Fees & Insurance page for more information.
